$195.00 Includes Priority Mail Shipping and tax            FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Included with this package:

1. HP 33s calculator, programmed for the subjects tested in the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) exam

2. Detailed reference guide for the programs in the calculator.

3. Official HP 33s User Manual

4. Leather case

5. New batteries

The programs and equations contained in this calculator are matched to the current FE/EIT (Fundamentals of Engineering / Engineer in Training) exam specifications and are specifically designed to solve typical NCEES questions. A Newcalc guide book is included that contains simple instructions on how to use the FE/EIT programs and summarizes each program, its applications, variables, program text, and miscellaneous notes. This guide book helps the user become familiar with the programs and how they are used for the standard question types. The guide also helps the user become acquainted with some of the miscellaneous features and capabilities of the HP 33s, that will be of use during the exam.

This product is more than a list of equations pre-typed into the calculator. This product is a combination of programs and equations, that are expanded to incorporate the calculation steps involved in typical NCEES questions. There are over 400 lines of program and equation text that are pre-typed into the calculator. Most of these lines of text are for programs, since each equation counts as only one line of text, regardless of its length. This product utilizes the HP 33s' full programming capabilities, and applies them to the FE/EIT exam. This is significantly more valuable than just typing in equations copied from the NCEES Supplied Reference Handbook or other study aid.

All of these programs have been carefully selected, reviewed and tested by two licensed professional engineers (names and license numbers available on request), and all programs are guaranteed to be error-free. A lot of time has been spent developing and checking these programs and equations. The use of this product will provide greater accuracy and speed in tackling the numerical questions on the exam, and allow more time to be spent on the descriptive and abstract questions.

The programs are designed to give maximum flexibility to accommodate any uncertainty in the format of the information presented in a question. For example, in calculating the voltage drop of an electrical circuit, the user can input either the current in amps, or the power in watts, and does not need to perform a conversion in order to use the program. Units are consistent with the NCEES conventions, and are therefore a combination of metric and imperial depending upon the particular application. Multiple calculation steps are combined in many of the programs, and in some cases, long manual calculations are reduced to seconds.

The Programs are already typed into the calculator (400 lines of program text in total) and fully tested for errors. The list of programs follows:

Solution of simultaneous equations up to third order
Solution of polynomial equations up to fifth order
Linear motion calculations
Projectile motion calculations
One-dimensional particle motion calculations

The calculator can be set to operate in either RPN (reverse polish notation) or regular algebraic mode. The chosen setting does not affect the operation of the engineering programs.

No programming skills are needed to enter or execute any of the programs. The instructions provided in each version of the program guide are very simple and all button presses are clearly indicated. The user will not have to refer back to the HP 33s User's Manual, although a copy of this is included with the calculator package.

The program data may be erased if the user resets the calculator or removes the batteries without replacing them immediately. Although it is unlikely that the data will be lost in error, all program text is provided so that the calculator can be reprogrammed if this occurs. Batteries are new and should last at least two years. If data is lost accidentally, Newcalc promises to re-program the calculator for free, and within two weeks, provided that the customer pays the actual shipping charges.

In April 2004, the NCEES began a policy of strictly enforcing the calculator policy, and the HP 33s is the most advanced RPN calculator that is permitted in these exams. The NCEES does permit pre-programmed calculators to be used during the exam, and there is no restriction on the data that may be programmed into a calculator provided that it is an approved model. The official NCEES calculator policy can be viewed at http://www.ncees.org/exams/calculators. The policy was updated on November 15, 2006, for the 2007 exams, and the HP 33s is still permitted.

The calculator provided in this package is brand new, the box has been opened only for the purpose of programming the calculator, and all standard HP 33s accessories are provided.

Please refer to the feedback comments from PE candidates who have recently purchased this programmed calculator and used it in recent examinations. The Newcalc EBAY account has 100% positive feedback. Many users have indicated that they probably would not have passed without the help of this programmed calculator.

Shipping is by either UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail. All items are shipped out within three days of receipt of payment, and all shipments are insured by the carrier and guaranteed by Newcalc

If you already own an HP 33s calculator and would like to send it to Newcalc for programming, the total cost is $145. This includes entering all of the program data and providing a copy of the program guide. The calculator and payment check should be sent to Newcalc with a note indicating which exam it is to be programmed for. If paying by Paypal, please make payment directly to sales@newcalc.com, and include a note in the comments box that you are sending your own calculator in for programming.
